Professional Training on “Research development protocol” to the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE)

On November 18th 2021, the Economic Policy Research Network (EPRN) delivered a training workshop on “Research development protocol” following all measures to prevent covid-19. This training was delivered to 10 country managers of the NTDs program across Africa from University of Global Health Equity at Butaro, Rwanda.

Dr. Charles Mulindabigwi Ruhara, on of EPRN Trainers, delivered this training which aimed at fostering knowledge exchange, personal interaction and strengthening their capacity. The training was a good opportunity for the trainees to have the basics skills they needed to start writing their proposal as well as conducting the research in their respective countries.

The training was generally the mixture of theoretical approach in the morning and practical approach in the afternoon session.

The training focused on the following topics :
Understand each phase of a research process,
Find a topic in the area of the neglected tropical diseases,
Determine the knowledge gap,
Formulate objectives, research questions and hypothesis and
Data collections plan and tools.

The training was very successful as the agenda of the training was fully covered and all 10 participants participated actively in the workshop. The participatory approach employed in class coupled with a group of motivated people, facilitated the successful completion of the training. At the end of the training, each participant got a certificates of participation.
