Call for application : Professional Training about “Introduction to EViews”

1. Introduction

The EViews software provides powerful statistical, forecasting and modeling tools, based on an innovative, easy-to-use, object-oriented graphical user interface. The combination of performance and ease of use, makes EViews the tool of best choice for all researchers and other experts in the context econometrics and time series. EViews provides sophisticated data analysis, regression, and forecasting tools on Windows-based computers. With EViews you can quickly develop a statistical relation from your data and then use the relation to forecast future values of the data.
This four-day course is tailored for people who are interested in developing economic models for scenario analysis and forecasts used in the design and implementation of macroeconomic policy. Professionals/Experts involved in producing and/or interpreting macroeconomic forecasts may also find the course useful.

2. Training Content

The course shall cover the following :

  • The EViews window- EViews menu and windows
  • Importing data into EViews
  • Viewing and plotting data
  • Creating variables
  • Descriptive statistics
  • Inferential statistics
  • Generating and Exporting EViews graphs
  • Regression analysis
  • 3. Outcomes

After the training, participants are expected to be able to :

  • Understand basic use of features of EViews
  • Be able to answer economic problems with statistical tools
  • Conduct, interpret and validate the assumptions of statistical methods
  • Perform simple linear regression

4. Training methods

The training course will be run in a workshop style with a high degree of participant involvement. Adult learning methodologies will be employed, and participants will not be passive. Debate and discussion will be encouraged. The trainer will use a mix of presentations to define and explain key concepts and practical exercises using EViews. The participants are advised to bring their laptops.

5. Certificate

EPRN will issue completion certificates to participants who will successfully attend the course and pass the course test.

Note : At the end of the course, the trainer will deliver a test, and ONLY participants who pass the course with at least 60% will get the certificate. Others will be advised to wait until another training opportunity for the same course (free of charge).

6. Training Fees

  • Members : 50,000 Rwf
  • Non-members : 100,000 Rwf.

NB : These fees cover : training fees, training materials, refreshments (drinks and foods) and certificate fee.
