Second EPRN Conference 2015

The 2nd Economic Policy Research Network (EPRN) Conference took place on the 25th November, 2015 at Lemigo Hotel. The Conference attracted young Rwandan researchers who presented their research at the conference as well as academicians, professionals and policy makers within the country.
The Conference focused on building the capacity of economists working in different sectors of the national economy and provided evidence for the country’s policy making process while increasing the presence of economists in Regional and International economic research forums. Some of the conference recommendations included :
– Enhance savings mobilization ; Continue to support the development of new products like longer term maturity deposits in terms of interest rates.
– Continue encouraging financial sector development to promote commercial bank lending : there is still room to increase lending to the private sector : increase in establishments (EICV4) even in rural areas in terms of commercial bank credit on economic growth and development in Rwanda.
– Since health insurance is an important factor, the government should promote the universal coverage policy or reconsider premium in terms of demand for health services in Rwanda.
– Enforcing tax morale among Rwandan citizens under factors affecting tax compliance in Rwanda.
